What is Makaton?
Makaton is a language programme that uses signs and symbols to help people to communicate. It is designed to support spoken language. The signs and symbols are used with speech, in spoken word order. The name is derived from the names of Margaret Walker, deviser of the system, and of Kathy Johnston and Tony Cornforth, who provided Walker with information.
